what is gonstead?
|
Dr. Clarence Gonstead practiced chiropractic from 1923 until 1978. He decided to become a chiropractor after another chiropractor helped him with his crippling rheumatoid arthritis. With his background in mechanical engineering, he saw the spine as an intricate engineering wonder and studied it every chance he had. His work with thousands of spinal cases, his constant clinical studies of the spine, and his own innate knowledge of how the spine works, explains his ingenuity in finding, identifying and correcting subluxations no one else could. There is an unwritten rule in chiropractic called the “80/10/10 rule, “ which says chiropractic can help 80% of the patients, 10% will respond well no matter what and the last 10% was not to respond. Dr. Gonstead based his practice off of that 10% we are not supposed to help and was over 95% effective at getting those people well. Dr. Gonstead became known as the “Miracle Man” of chiropractic. His technique became the hallmark for the entire chiropractic profession.
His practice was located in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin (pop. 4000) and drew patients in from all over the world. Dr. Gonstead had built the largest chiropractic facility in the world. A 22,000 square foot clinic, it had a waiting room to seat over 100 patients, 11 adjusting rooms, x-ray facilities and lab, and a lower level to hold Chiropractic seminars. It was to become the most renowned chiropractic facility in the world. Next to his new clinic, Dr. Gonstead added a 78 room, full-service motel to accommodate the clinic's numerous long distance patients. Dr. Gonstead and his fellow staff members cared for 300 to 400 patients on a daily basis. This huge following of patients led Dr. Gonstead to start the Gonstead Seminar of chiropractic, which helped to teach and develop even more Chiropractors in the art and philosophy of the Gonstead system of chiropractic treatment.
The Gonstead system gives rise to a specific, definite approach, to every segment of the spinal column. The detailed analysis includes instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation, visualization, x-ray followed by adjusting the articulations of the spine by hand only!
Our Doctors are trained exclusively in the Gonstead system and will continue to do so for the rest of their careers. There is a clinical logic to every decision that is made for each and every patient. This ensures that the principles outlined by Dr. Gonstead will be duplicated, the results achieved and our patients satisfied. This is our goal at Ultimate Health Chiropractic. |
